Secretary of State for Business, Innovation & Skills, Lord Mandleson officially opened Antenna Media Centre in the heart of Nottingham today. Antenna forms the latest addition to the Confetti Media Group, comprising the Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies, Confetti Constellations and Spool Post Antenna is a new approach to creative working. The state of the art members-only centre offers facilities and offices which fully embrace digital technologies alongside a restaurant and a fully licensed bar - all designed with creative inspiration in mind. Mandelson was joined by Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport Ben Bradshaw and the visit formed part of a “cabinet away day” to Nottingham.
As well as officially launching Antenna, the Secretaries of State were taken on a tour of the facilities at the neighbouring Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies. The visit showcased the training facilities on offer to students seeking a career in the Creative Technology Industries and highlighted the state of the art post production facilities on offer to music, film and video production companies, including the newly installed Dolby 5.1 EX theatre, the only such facility in the country outside Soho.
Britain’s creative industries lead the way and the tour provided a unique opportunity to witness Nottingham’s young creative talent harnessing their skills in an environment inhabited by creative businesses who are blazing their own trails within their fields of expertise. The Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies was established by Craig Chettle in 1994 and since inception has grown from teaching a group of 10 students in a single music studio, to become a UK renowned centre of excellence for Creative Technologies training, enabling thousands of talented individuals to take their first steps to realise a career in the Creative Industries.
The visit to Confetti was followed with a tour around the Antenna Media Centre, led by Craig Chettle and Debbie Williams, Chief Executive of EM Media, Screen Agency for the East Midlands and the first organisation to join Antenna. The visit concluded with the unveiling of a plaque – officially marking the building’s opening.
Rt Hon Lord Mandleson describes the Confetti Media Group as “unique” and declares Nottingham’s new media business centre, Antenna, officially open.
